As nonsurgical treatments grow in popularity, CoolSculpting® has quickly risen through the ranks. It’s easy to understand why CoolSculpting stands out to my patients from Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and beyond; the procedure freezes away fat cells and slims the body, all without downtime.
If you’re interested in fat reduction treatment but don’t know what to expect, this blog post helps guide you through the process. We’ll explain the before, during, and after of what you can look forward to during your first CoolSculpting treatment.
What should I do before CoolSculpting?
Every CoolSculpting journey begins with a one-on-one consultation. Patients can request a meeting either online or by directly calling the practice. During this time, you can talk with a provider about your goals and desired results. Your provider will walk you through your treatment options and explain which areas would benefit the most from the procedure.
Your provider may also recommend pairing CoolSculpting with other body contouring procedures. Other nonsurgical treatments, such as Ultherapy, can be useful for tightening and smoothing out the skin.
What happens during a CoolSculpting session?
CoolSculpting treatments are administered via a small handheld device. While you relax in a comfortable reclined seat, your provider will place the applicator on the target area.
The applicator uses suction to draw the target fatty tissue into the device and hold it in place. The applicator then administers a steady stream of precisely cooled air to the treatment area. When exposed to these cold temperatures, the fat cells begin to die off and are later shed from the body.
Our practice offers many different CoolSculpting applicators to address your particular needs. Our CoolFit®, CoolSmooth™, CoolMini®, and CoolAdvantage™ applicators are each customized to conform to different areas of the body, such as the area beneath the chin, the outer thighs, the inner thighs, or the flanks. What to do after CoolSculpting for best results?
The length of a CoolSculpting session varies depending on the number of treatment areas. Most procedures take around an hour or less. There is no downtime required after treatment, and you can return to work or home immediately afterward.
Over the next few weeks, your body will begin to shed the dead, frozen fat cells. Results become visible around 3 to 4 weeks after treatment as your body continues to break down the tissue.
Some patients request a series of follow-up CoolSculpting sessions to achieve more dramatic results. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle after treatment, you can enjoy your newly sculpted body for years to come. Browse our CoolSculpting before-and-after photos to see examples of real patient results.
